What makes a good metal shed?
Spearhead sells three type of metal shed - standard metal, secure metal and premium metal. However, for each range, we have minimum criteria that each shed must reach to meet our standards:
- Bracing on corners, roofing and adjoining panels. Without it, the structure of the shed will not be stable and may not withstand high winds and heavy snowfall.
- Thick steel: inferior sheds are made from 0.2mm panels. These are non-secure, deliver poor structural integrity, especially in bad weather and will flex unnervingly to put undue pressure on the frame and roof. We specify 0.3mm as a minimum.
- Ventilation: the large swathes of sheet metal can make these sheds prone to condensation. Unless they feature multiple ventilation slots, there is a risk of damp damaging the shed and whatever you're storing in it.
- Multi-coat protection: galvanised steel should be professionally painted for durability. Of course you can then personalise the colour on top of these base layers to your heart's content!
